Today, the leadership of the association with the presence of the President of the association, Bamidele Danielson Akpan took a walk in Ibadan to campaign against rape and all forms of abuse and violence against the girl-child which is becoming rampant these days with unpleasant news of the heinous act being heard in the news virtually everyday in all part of the country.
It is on record that Bello Barakat of Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Apata, Ibadan was murdered by some persons after their efforts to rape her proved abortive right in her home in Ibadan. We feel so sad to read of the news and all other cases of insecurity which is on the rise in our counter today. We feel embarrassed that we are being exposed to danger as a result of insecurity.
Our resolve to take to the street to demonstrate against this is to call the attention of those at the helms of affairs to this evil act for them to see a need to put an end to the act and also beef up security in ensuring that Nigerians are safe and we appreciate the State government for their response towards this plight as expressed. We also appreciate Nigerian students for trooping out in their numbers to demonstrate and we give them our words that we shall never cease agitating for improved welfare for all Nigerian students.
Indeed, when people are united in purpose, there is nothing they cannot achieve.
