IKARE CELEBRATES ANNUAL FESTIVAL IN GRANDSTYLE
It was all jamboree and funfair yesterday November 19, 2022 as the sons, daughters and friends of Ikare Akoko in Ondo State came together to celebrate the grand finale of the 2022 Ikare day celebration, awards ceremony and chieftancy installation at Lenon Jubilee secondary School, Ikare Akoko.
In his speech, the distinguished guest of honor, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu who was ably represented by the commissioner for water resources and sanitation Rt. Hon Abdulfatah Olotu felicitated with the people of Ikare and thank the King for always supporting the Government in making Ondo state a place of pride.
Akeredolu who pledge that his administration will always be ready to support Ikare when ever the need arises made it known that the different project that has been facilitated in the town and others that are still ongoing are the ways his administration his expressing gratitude for the cooperation the Government has been enjoying from Ikare people
In his welcome address, the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Alhaji Akadiri Saliu Momoh IV thanked everyone for gracing the occasion and specially expressed his gratitude to the sons and daughter of Ikare both home and abroad for their support towards the building of Ikare Township hall while calling on others to join hands with them so as to fast track the completion of the project
Oba Akadiri Momoh stressed that he is a peace lover and enjoined the indigents and residents of Ikare and its environs to embrace and promote peace in all they do.
In his goodwill message, the Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele who is also one of the awardees thanked the people of Ikare for counting him worthy to be a recipient of their special recognition award and assured the people of Ikare that the Government of Ondo state will continue to work for the development of Ikare and Ondo State people in general.
Highlights of the event include but not limited to, cultural display, presentation of award of recognition to distinguished sons, daughter and friends of Ikare land, installation of two honorary chiefs – Erelu of Ikare and the Aare Tayeṣe of Ikare -, launching of donation towards the completion of Ikare Township hall building, and presentation of bursary allowance and educational materials to indigenous students by the Chief launcher of the day pastor Jide Ipinsagba, a political aspirant.
The occasion was graced by traditional rulers, eminent politicians, religious leaders and other eminent personalities from all walks of life.
