Hon.(Dr.) Otunba Timehin Adelegbe, the federal lawmaker representing Owo/ Ose Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives has commended the proposal and action taken by the Ondo State Government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN), CON, on the upgrade the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic into a full fledged University of Management Sciences and Technology.The decision to convert the 43 years old institution was taken by the State Executive Council on Wednesday where seven men committee was set up.
While commending the State Governor for taken such decision, Adelegbe noted that the proposal is a welcome development considering the position of Owo Polytechnic, among other state institutions in the state.
“I must appreciate and commend our Governor for keying in to the upgrading the age-long institution, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic to a university.
“For me this is a welcome development in all ramifications. I am fascinated and excited with it”.
“This attest to the fact that Mr. Governor is totally committed to the development of tertiary education in the state. With this, coupled with his giant strides in the educational sector since he assumed office, has justified that he is committed towards the growth of young ones.
“On behalf of the good people of Owo Kingdom, which is part of my constituents, I appreciate you and commend you”.
The APC Chieftain in Owo/Ose, noted that with the upgrade, University education in areas of Science and Technology will easily be accessible by our prospective students.
“The upgrading of the Polytechnic will go a long way in training Management experts and technologist which are need for a better and more comfortable society. With the upgrading, the dearth in study of Management Sciences and Technology courses will become a thing of the past”.
