The Leadership and the entire inhabitants of Polobubo -Tsekelewu Community in Warri North LGA of Delta State,
has called on the federal government,
the Delta State Government and the Oil Companies operating in their vicinity to come up
with remediation measures to solve
the problem of pollution in Polobubo Tsekelewu Community because they are passing through
different kinds of challenges associated with environmental degradation and pollution.
The President General of Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Community, Dr Bright Abulu, an environmental activists, Mrs Ibiba Don Pedro and Mr, Henry Eferubo made this call at
Polobubo – Tsekelewu Community
when they
joined the rest of the World to commemorate the World Environment
Day commemorated annually on the fift
of June .
The thrio Who spoke in their separate statements, called on relevant stakeholders for a collaborative effort in solving the problem of waste pollution and environmental degradation in the community.

also spoke to newsmen
during this year’s World Environment Day , tagged : Beat Plastic Pollution, called on Government and the Oil Majors to pay urgent attention
to the issues of pollution in Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Community
to prevent health disaster in the area within the shortest possible time.
Elder Anthony Kilete Tiemo the
Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Committee Chair and Mr Isene Clackson the scribe explained during the media parley that the save our soul cry to
the relevant authorities across board became paramount and imperative because, plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues, as rapidly increasing production of disposable plastic products overwhelms the world’s ability to deal with them.
The two Community reps Who shed more light on the teething problems of plastic pollution pointed out saying: ” Plastic pollution is most visible in riverine areas in developing Asian and African nations, where garbage collection systems are often inefficient or nonexistent.”
Giving a more vivid example, they
said: ” ln Delta State, Polobubo (Tsekelewu ) community in Warri North Local Government Area is one of the most affected Community where plastic pollution due to the activities of multinational Oil Companies operating in the area
without taking any responsibility to
carry out remediation activities to restore the corrosive environment that was once a green lursh before their coming for exploration activities.
Elder Kilete-Tiemo and Mr lsene Clackson said millions of animals are killed by plastics waste every year, from birds to fish and other marine organisms in the area , adding that
it is high time to change the narratives for better.
Speaking further, the Polobubo (Tsekelewu( Mouth Piece said: ” We are appealing to the Federal and State Governments as well as the multi-national companies operating in our community to help us solve the massive waste pollution and environmental degradation in the community.”
While giving suggestions on possible measures that can be used to address the ugly trend of pollution Elder Kilete-Tiemo and Mr Isene Clackson recommended thus:
” We strongly recommend that
the Government and the Oil Giants should engage in tree planting, do everything possible to stop gas flaring, get involved in the construction of standard health facilities, internal roads, housing units and provision of portable drinking water in the community
to make life meaningful for them
as they no longer have another
means of fending for themselves.
HRM. AMB. Mesack E .A. Ubabiri,
Bini Pere 1V, the Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom also lend his Royal Voice as he supported his people to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and other relevant agencies of Government to come to the aid of Polobubo ( Tsekelewu) community and other Oil producing Communities in Egbema Kingdom in particular and the Niger Delta in general to arrest the problem of Pollution in the Niger Delta.
The Egbema Monarch stressed that there is a fundamental need for the stakeholders to take a pragmatic approach to the problems of pollution in Egbema Kingdom because the associated problems of pollution are already getting out of control as it brings hardship to the people of Egbema kingdom.
The Egbema Royal Father while emphasizing the urgent need for
the Federal and State Governments as well the multi-national Oil Companies operating in their vicinity to help them solve the protracted massive problem of pollution and environmental degradation in their Communities
however,urged residents to live peacefully with oil Company Personnel and protect oil facilities in their kingdom.
