Orange FM commences relocation to OSRC premise
The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has approved that all state-owned broadcast establishments, OSRC TV, SUNSHINE 96.5FM ALALAYE and ORANGE 94.5 FM be physically and administratively consolidated at the headquarters of the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC, Orita Obele, Ijare road, Akure.
The decision is part of strategies of government to adjust to the current economic realities facing the nation and the state.
It is also consistent with the policy thrust of the Akeredolu administration to run a smart, efficient and cost-effective governance system in line with global best practices.
In a statement, the Chairman and Chief Executive of OSRC Media Group, Mr. Adekunle Adebayo said that as a result of the governor’s directive, Orange 94.5FM will vacate its present premises at Irese road for the headquarters of the media group at Orita Obele, Akure.
Adebayo noted that the step will help install and enforce a regime of shared facility, optimum human resources utilization and cost-efficient operational logistics for the three media houses.
According to the statement, the benefits include massive reduction of costs of purchase of Diesel for power generation, eradication of costs of maintenance of 3 power generators currently used for running Orange 94.5 FM, as well as eradication of expenditure on maintenance of engineering facilities such as broadcast mast, signal antennae, Fibre optical cable installations and studio equipment.
He said other benefits of the governor’s directive include crash in the costs on vehicles maintenance, massive reduction of costs of daily news gathering, programme productions operations and marketing activities.
Effective operational supervision, smart human resources administration and management.
Adebayo added that when fully inaugurated, the new operational structure will help government save about 80% of its current overall expenditure on Orange 94.5FM thereby freeing more resources to address other critical areas of the state’s need.
The OSRC Chief Executive said already preliminary Implementation of the directive has commenced while the completion of the relocation is expected by September 10.
He enjoined members of the public to bear with the media group concerning the slight inconveniences the exercise may bring to their listening pleasure.
