The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC has announced December 16, 2023 as the date for the conduct of local government elections in the state.
The Chairman of the Commission, Prof Yomi Dinakin disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the preparation for the conduct of the election.
Prof Dinakin noted that the announcement was in line with the provisions of Section 28 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 that stipulates not later than 360 days before the election.

According to the released timetable, ODIEC will meet with stakeholders and political parties for the release of the election guidelines.
The timetable indicates that conduct of party primaries by political parties and observation by the commission holds between April 10th to June 10th, 2023 while campaign will starts by July 17th and ends midnight of December 14th 2023.
On his part, the ODIEC Commissioner in charge of media and Publicity, Mr Rotimi Olorunfemi said publication of list of validated candidates for Chairmanship and Councillorship elections will be done on July 17, 2023.
The ODIEC Commissioner in Charge of Training and Legal, Prof Tajudeen Ibrahim noted that training of Adhoc staff will hold between November 23 to December 1st, 2023.
