Major stakeholders in the primary education sector have lauded an old student of St. Anthonys R.C.M. Primary School, Araromi Street, Akure, Mr. Oluwaseyi Oluwalade, for giving scholarships to 35 students of the school.
Mr. Oluwalade, on Tuesday, January 16, 2023, paid for Placement Examination for 25 primary vi pupils and school fees for 10 primary i and ii pupils of the school to mark his 40th birthday of December 14, 2022.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Akure South Local Government Area, Comrade Olubode Ogunleye, commended Mr. Oluwalade for what he called sincere ingenuity that would have attendant indelible impact on the beneficiaries.
He said, On behalf of the NUT, I appreciate your kind initiative. For you to have done this at this time of deficient economic situation, it shows how ingenuous and high-minded you are. We are all happy and proud of you for making this deep-seated impact on our pupils.
The NUT boss charged the pupils to take their education seriously and excel, saying that their success in their studies would make the donor proud of them and spur him to do more.
The Head Teacher of the school, Mrs. Blessing Akinola, remarked, Though people (both former students and individuals) have been coming to give scholarship to our pupils, Mr. Oluwalade is unique because of the huge number of pupils he is assisting at once today. On behalf of the beneficiaries, including their parents, I sincerely thank you for your kind gesture. I did not know you not to talk of calling you. You walked into my office in October last year and told me what you intended to do. And here we are today. God will continue to bless you and your household.
She called on other old students and individuals to assist the school in terms giving more scholarships and infrastructure development.
Also, the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Chief Julius Mese, while thanking Mr. Oluwalade for demonstrating a rare gesture, advised parents of the beneficiaries to monitor their children at all times and instill discipline and moral values in them.
Responding, Mr. Oluwalade appreciated God for always giving him direction to offer assistance to humanity as far as his capacity could carry.
He said, This is not my first time of doing this. I have been to rehabilitation centre, and motherless homes in the past to celebrate with them. This time around, I came here having observed that unlike what our secondary schools and higher institutions enjoy from their graduates, many of us dont usually remember to assist our elementary school, where our education paths were unwrapped.

God has used some special people in my life to make this a reality. These are my friends and family, loved ones, associates and superiors. They have put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries through me. I pray God to put smiles on their faces at all times. Let me also use this medium to plead with all old boys and girls of St. Anthonys R.C.M Primary School, Akure, to come home and add value to our alma mater.
