It is said that bad governance is not just based on corruption but, it contain lack of transparency, accountability, arbitrary policy making and sabotaging the interest of those who are governed.
Democracy as a system of government according to Abraham Lincoln is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.
Which connotes that everybody irrespective of the office been held or not Is equal and no one is above the law of the nation both the rich and poor, government and the governed, but it is sad that is not so as Nigeria case is concern.
The leaders of Nigeria are operating autocracy rather than democracy doing what favour them without been considering it negative effect on the citizen.
The policy that suit them is been implemented than those that would affect them in one way or the other.
For instance the present situation in the country which is scarcity of money is just affecting the followers not the leaders because they all have other ways of getting money at hand.
Gambling and corruption has gain ground in Nigeria which leads to embezzlement and claiming of properties that belong to the country by one individual.
Those that hold government position misuse the power being vested on them to gathered properties.
Moreover multi party system cause a lot of injury to Nigeria political system because out of the registered political only two are relevant In which the politicians are using the opportunity to decamp from one party to another if there aim is not been achieved in a party, example of what is happening now in Nigeria Peter Obi who was not given the mandate under the umbrella of PDP later decamp to Labour party to serve as the flag bearer of the party as the presidential candidate.
Lack of cooperation among Nigerians to voice out against bad government also caused a lot to be having bad governance in the country since their voice is not been heated by the authority.
However, to have a better government Nigerians should always seek for transparency and accountability in government from the politician during political campaign.
Also they should avoid collecting bribe from politician on the election day so as to have their power to vote for the qualified candidate of their choice. There should be reduction in the political party’ s been registered by the electoral commission in the country.
