In his Democracy Day message, Senator Jide Ipinsagba (Ondo North Senatorial District) called on Nigerians to stand firm in their belief in democracy and contribute to the country’s development through peaceful means. He emphasized the importance of eschewing violence and maintaining a positive outlook, even in the face of challenges.
Senator Ipinsagba praised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for laying a foundation of socio-economic growth and development in the past year. He highlighted the government’s prudence, attitudinal change in public service, infrastructural development, and commitment to fighting corruption.
However, he also acknowledged the significance of the June 12, 1993 election, which Nigerians came together to elect a president, putting aside their differences. He honored the late MKO Abiola, who sacrificed his life for Nigerian democracy to thrive.
“I join my esteemed constituents and Nigerians in commemorating 2024 Democracy Day,” Senator Ipinsagba said. “Let us continue to uphold the principles of democracy and work together towards a brighter future for our nation.”
